Paris is a location in 80 Days. Situated in Western Europe, it is the capital city of France. It is Passepartout's hometown, and it is still recovering from the Siege of Paris.
Events[]
The city is the site of an Exposition Universelle, hosted at the Palais du Champ de Mars. As a Parisien, Passepartout is reminded of the siege of Paris. He can also visit the exposition itself, with many sights and wonders, ranging from the Artificer's Guild or the airship hangar, to the Avenue of Nations.
At the hangar, he may haggle over a balloon ride or see the airships of several different nations (British India, the Ottoman Empire, the Zulu Federation, or a Peruvian gyrocopter), which are put on display. Passepartout can learn their routes and thus be prepared, should he end up in the Empire of his choice during their travels.
On the Avenue of Nations, Fogg's valet witnesses the might of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and its automata-soldiers, much to the dismay of the Artificer's Guild. The Guild is the prime purveyor of all manners of automated machines throughout the globe, including Bombay, Siberia and Bucharest and they may be recognised by their copper lily insignia.
Alternately, Passepartout may think about the Siege of Paris, perhaps shutting himself in his room to deal with the painful memories, or taking to the streets to think about his role as a blockade runner, cook or National Guard member. He surpresses those memories and chooses to reconstruct the romanticism of the Paris of his childhood.
