Amulya Savarkar is a character in 80 Days. She is an Indian Artificer and world famous inventor, known for creating the Savarkar Atmotics, a revolutionary line of airships. Today she lives in Delhi and has all but retired from inventing for the British Raj, choosing instead a simpler life of being a tour guide for European tourists. She seems to have a bit of a rivalry with Kazem Shirani, the "Toymaker of Herat", as he considers it unfair that she made airships that the British Raj use for war and was celebrated, while he did the same thing for his masters and was punished for it.
Passepartout and Phileas Fogg might run into the tour guide in the Jantar Mantar gardens while exploring the city, where they can ask her about her days as an inventor. While originally dismissive of the foreign gentlemen, she reveals that at one point she made advanced airships for the British Raj and was hailed as a genius, but she has put all that aside for a more peaceful life. One of the reasons she has stopped inventing is her belief that no matter what she invents it will all simply become obsolete in the future like the once great inventions of the past have become today. Eventually even her Atmotics will become outdated, so she doesn't see the point in continuing to invent anything new anymore. If Passepartout tells her about their wager she will reveal that there is one final invention that she has been working on; an airship unlike any other that can travel record distances in unbelievable speed. At an exorbitant price she will let the pair use it to get to Hong Kong faster than any other route will take them.
